Pay Rate: $24.74 to $31.31 per hour
Employment Status: Term Full Time
Monthly/weekly hours: 75 hours bi-weekly

Term: December 2012 – December 2013

Reporting to the Facility Manager, the Maintenance Worker maintains Yukon Hospital Corporation facilities and equipment; installs, maintains and repairs property and equipment throughout the facilities; provides light carpentry and plumbing services; and performs other related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Knowledge of principals of operation, control and maintenance of specialized hospital equipment;
  • Knowledge of safety and health regulations and guidelines;
  • Knowledge of plumbing, heating, welding and electrical practices;
  • Knowledge of carpentry and locksmithing;
  • Knowledge of techniques and proper, safe and effective use and maintenance of mechanical repair tools;
  • Good communications skills both written and oral;
  • Good computer skills;
  • Ability to organize, schedule, prioritize job tasks and adapt to workload variances and determine parts that are required;
  • Ability to maintain records and prepare comprehensive and concise reports;
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to interpret technical and numerical information;
  • Excellent decision making, problem solving and organizational skills;
  • Cross cultural awareness;
  • Ability to deal with constant interruptions, distractions, time pressures, concurrent demands and staff pressure;
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
The successful applicant will have 3-5 year experience in general maintenance, repair, plumbing experience and carpentry work, WHMIS training and a valid driver’s license. First Aid/CPR Certification, a Journeyman Plumbing and/or Carpentry ticket is considered desirable for this position
