Pay Rate: $34.86 to $46.56 per hour
Employment Status: Term full and part time - 1 to 6 months
Monthly/weekly hours: Up to 75 hours biweekly (12 hours shifts for most areas)

Assignments throughout the year.
We offer:

  • Travel assistance for term employees hired for periods in excess of 3 months are eligible for reimbursement up to the actual cost based on the lowest cost alternative (eg. economy airfare). Positions of less than 3 months may be eligible for up to $1,000.
  • Fully furnished accommodations available (For terms greater than 4 months  - $700 for a Studio apartment and $750 for a one bedroom apartment per month . For terms 4 months or less - $350 for a studio apartment and $375 for a one bedroom apartment per month.  Depending on what is available at time of term), 
  • Educational Allowance (for those that qualify),
  • Reimbursement of your Registered Nurse Licensing with Yukon Registered Nurses Association, and
  • Eligible for extended health and dental on longer term positions.

As a multidisciplinary team member the incumbent provides nursing care for patients through the administration and implementation of medical investigation and therapeutic programs.

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Knowledge of general practices, procedures of professional nursing care, trends and developments in the nursing field.
  • Ability to develop and implement nursing care plans, to provide professional nursing care in a cross cultural environment, and to instruct patients and their families in health and rehabilitation practices,
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills,
  • Commitment to interdisciplinary team approach,
  • Demonstrates initiative and good judgment,
  • Excellent problem solving skills,
  • Ability to teach nursing practices and other relevant skills,
  • Good leadership skills,
  • Excellent interpersonal skills,
  • Computer literacy skills,

Knowledge and Skills acquired through
Diploma/Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing; Acute care nursing experience in medical and/or surgical (1 year); Continuing education/experience in appropriate specialties such as:
Operating Room - Emergency Room – Maternity – ICU – Pediatrics – Psychiatric

Requirements
A degree/diploma in Nursing from a Canadian university/school of nursing or a recognized equivalent; Current Registration or ability to get Yukon Registered Nurses Association; minimum of one year experience in one of the specialty areas indicated, Current CPR certification; Valid Yukon Drivers license (Watson Lake Hospital only); Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
