Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, this position is responsible for managing and implementing recruitment strategies, staffing, and participating in short and long term planning processes as it relates to human resources.  This position represents Yukon Hospital Corporation (YHC) at meetings, conferences, recruitment events and career fairs, measures effectiveness and assists with the development of effective marketing strategies and media materials.  This position is also responsible for managing health care benefits, long term disability claims, leave administration; database development and management; and metric reporting.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Knowledge of human resources management practices, principles, processes and procedures;
  • In-depth knowledge of recruitment and staffing practices, principles, processes and procedures;
  • Knowledge of current employment and labour acts/regulations and applicable collective agreements;
  • Knowledge of current health care issues and trends;
  • Advanced knowledge of various software and spreadsheet programs including database development, implementation and management ( MS-Office, Excel, Word and Access);
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare benefits administration, long term disability and leave administration;
  • Ability to create metrics and monthly/quarterly reporting functions using databases;
  • Ability to provide client-focused services;
  • Ability to recruit and staff vacant positions;
  • Knowledge of costing principles;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment;
  • Ability to analyze and apply problem identification and resolution skills;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally, orally and in writing with all levels of the organization;
  • Ability to build strategic partnerships and alliances;
  • Ability to foster effective working relationships, both internal and external, at all levels;
  • Ability to problem solve complex issues towards creative solutions;
  • Ability to influence change and manage conflict;

A minimum of two (2) years Post secondary education in Human Resources Management, or completion of an allied healthcare professional program along with three (3) to five (5) years of directly related experience in a unionized environment preferably in a healthcare setting, where at least two (2) years experience must be in healthcare benefits, recruitment and database development.  An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be considered. Certification in Human Resource Profession (CHRP) and knowledge of Meditech systems would be an asset.
