Union - Hospital Corporation Ratify New Collective Agreement

WHITEHORSE - The Yukon Hospital Corporation and the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC), bargaining agent for the Yukon Employees' Union (YEU), are pleased to announce that a four-year collective agreement has been ratified. This agreement covers YEU-PSAC members at both Whitehorse General Hospital and the Watson Lake Hospital.
"We are very pleased to have concluded negotiations. Credit needs to be given to the hospital management team and to all of our PSAC members for creating such a strong and cooperative work environment in our hospitals", said Craig Tuton, Chair of the Board of Trustees. "We are pleased with this new agreement and with the work that both negotiating teams put into the process".
Loralee Kesler, Vice President of YEU, participated on the Union negotiating team as an advisor. "Our team was committed to finding resolutions to the proposals submitted that would benefit all the members in both hospitals", said Ms. Kesler. "I would like to acknowledge their hard work and long hours, and join with Mr. Tuton in congratulating all involved for their hard work and determination."
Highlights of 4 year contract include: a total of 9.25% wage increases over the term of the agreement, increases in shift premiums, 100% payment of registration/licensing fees, increased Yukon Bonus payment, benefit coverage and paid leave for appointments. Wage increases are retroactive to August 31, 2010.
