Reporting to the Support Services Supervisor, Watson Lake Community Hospital, the incumbent prepares and cooks meals for patients/residents/customers according to prescribed departmental policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Thorough knowledge of Food Safety practices
- Knowledge of Institutional Cooking methods and practices
- Knowledge of Basic Nutrition and Therapeutic Diets
- Knowledge of Sanitation & Occupational Health and Safety Practices
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Good problem solving skills
- Good interpersonal and communications skills (both oral and written)
- Demonstrated skills in working with diverse populations
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and take action within scope of practice
- Cross cultural awareness and sensitivity
The successful applicant will have a Cooking Diploma/Certificate (minimum 1 year course length), two (2) years of institutional and/or healthcare cooking experience, Food Safe 1 certificate, and a valid class 5 Yukon drivers’ license. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be considered.
