Minimum Rotations of Six (6) Weeks On, Six (6) Weeks Off or Eight (8) Weeks On, Eight (8) Weeks Off Rotational Schedule

Reporting to the Operations Leader, the Registered Nurses administer and implement the medical and therapeutic programs ordered by the physician. As well the RNs provide emergency care for stabilization of multiple trauma or critically ill medical/obstetrical patients until medical evacuation can be arranged; The RNs develop, and implement individualized nursing care plans. As team members, through the provision of treatment services and health education, the incumbent fosters an environment in which clients can achieve and maintain optimal health. Duties include: providing inpatient and outpatient/emergency care for the patient; assisting with planning; implementing and evaluating a comprehensive family service; and performing other related duties which contribute to the optimal functioning of the unit.

  • Knowledge of established practices and procedures of professional nursing care
  • Knowledge of trends and developments in the nursing field
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Initiative, good judgment and reliability
  • Advocacy and assertiveness skills
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Ability to teach nursing practices and other relevant clinical skills
  • Ability to develop and implement nursing care/treatment/discharge plans
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing
  • Cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity

The successful candidate should have a Diploma/Baccalaureate degree in Nursing; be currently registered with Yukon Registered Nurses Association (YRNA); and have current C.P.R certification, a valid Yukon Driver’s License and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate.  Certification in A.C.L.S., N.R.P, and T.N.C.C would be desirable. A minimum of (2) two – (3) three years of experience in acute care nursing is required for this position. Emergency Nursing experience would be considered an asset.
