We are providing a professional development opportunity for 2 Registered Nurses to train as a Community Hospital Acute Care/ ED Nurse. This exciting opportunity is open to RNs with or without Acute Care hospital experience.

 

It is expected that with a minimum of 1 year acute care nursing experience, the successful applicant will immediately enroll in an accredited Emergency Nursing course/program in Canada upon hire.

 

If the successful applicant requires Acute Care hospital mentorship, they must complete a paid 4 week full time mentorship at Whitehorse General Hospital prior to commencing work at the Community Hospital. Following this, the staff nurse would need to enroll in an accredited Emergency Nursing course/program in Canada.

 

Upon successful completion of the above noted training and mentorship if applicable, the incumbent will be appointed to regular full-time Registered Nurse Position in the Community Hospital.

 

In addition, the successful candidate must be prepared to:

  • Arrange and complete all off site practicums as per the Emergency Nursing Program requirements;

  • Complete a 4 week ED mentorship at Whitehorse General Hospital following program completion

     

The successful candidate is required to have a Diploma or Baccalaureate degree in Nursing, be currently registered with Yukon Registered Nurses Association (YRNA) and have current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (C.P.R) certification.  As well, applicants must have a minimum of 1 year nursing experience to be considered for this opportunity. 

 

NOTE:  All costs associated with this training opportunity (i.e., tuition, text books, rented accommodation, and travel expenses to and from the Community) will be fully paid by Yukon Hospital Corporation.  A return of service commitment in the respective Community Hospital from the successful candidate will be required. This opportunity is governed by PIPSC CA article F-7:  Education and Professional Development.  As well, this mentorship opportunity is excluded from Article E-2, however, YHC is committed to using a competitive process to determine the best suitable candidates for these opportunities.
