Reporting to the Director of Diagnostic & Therapeutic Services, the Medical Imaging Services Manager is accountable for the overall management, day-to-day operations and technical functioning of medical imaging services at all Yukon Hospital Corporation (YHC) facilities to ensure an efficient and effective service. This requires strong people skills in addition to leadership, administrative and technical knowledge. Primary functions include: fostering strong, positive employee relations; promoting excellence in quality, safety and risk management; efficient & effective utilization of human, financial and physical resources; budget implementation and project management.  The Medical Imaging Services Manager takes a lead role in creating a culture of collaboration and teamwork.  This position is key in nurturing our mission, vision and goals and works closely and collaboratively with all Medical Imaging and YHC staff, healthcare partners, and is an important member of the YHC management team. 

Knowledge and Skills required for this position are as follows:

  • Proven knowledge of professional practices and procedures as outlined by Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT);

  • Knowledge of procurement practices and the maintenance requirements for a wide variety of complex medical imaging equipment;

  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology;

  • Knowledge of radiology techniques and associated equipment and instruments;

  • Demonstrated computer skills and full proficiency with MS Office Suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook);

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written;

  • Proven ability to effectively manage financial resources;

  • Proven ability to effectively manage human resources, including team building and conflict resolution skills and techniques;

  • Ability to organize, coach, mentor and evaluate staff in a variety of roles;

  • Ability to effectively manage constraints and competing priorities;

  • Ability to multitask and demonstrated success in both;

  • Ability to maintain records and prepare comprehensive and concise reports and correspondence;

  • Ability to be effective in planning, implementing and evaluating change;

  • Ability to develop and implement medical imaging programs;

  • Self-motivated and willingness towards continued learning;

  • Quality-improvement and client-service oriented; and

  • Cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity.

     

    The successful candidate is required to have a Degree in Medical Imaging Technology or Healthcare Management; Current member of Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT); Three (3) to five (5) years healthcare management experience, preferably in a hospital setting; and three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in operating medical imaging equipment. An equivalent combination of education/training and/or experience may be considered. Additional education in personnel and financial management, experience in more than one modality within the Medical Imaging field, experience with Meditech applications, certification in PACS applications, and an Undergraduate degree in Health Administration Management are desired.
