Whitehorse - The Yukon Hospital Corporation (YHC) and the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) locals, representing support services staff at the territory’s three hospitals, yesterday reached a tentative deal on a new collective agreement.
Both YHC and PSAC have unanimously agreed to recommend ratification of the deal to the hospitals’ Board of Trustees and union membership, respectively. If approved, the new three-year agreement would be in effect from September 1, 2014 to August 31, 2017.
“We are pleased that we were able to successfully conclude negotiations and avoid the potential for any disruption to patient care,” says Jason Bilsky, YHC CEO. “We recognize the hard work by both bargaining teams and thank them for their efforts to reach agreement.”
Details of the agreement will be released once both parties have provided ratification. The hospitals’ Board of Trustees is scheduled to meet on April 29 to ratify the deal.
