Telehealth

Telehealth uses videoconferencing technology to provide healthcare services and education to clients and health care professionals in their own community. The service is free and available in all Yukon communities, linking patients with clinicians at a distance through a secure network. The service is currently being used for:

  • Specialist consults in and out of the territory
  • General Practice distance visits to Yukon communities outside Whitehorse
  • Mental wellness counseling and group meetings
  • Therapy services, including physio, occupational and speech
  • Emergency radiology consults (digital pictures...)
  • Diabetes education
  • Nutrition counseling and education
  • Community health classes (such as pre-natal and chronic conditions)
  • Discharge planning
  • Family visits
  • Continuing education for health care professionals
