The Organizational Development and Learning Consultant will play a key role in furthering the development of Yukon Hospital Corporation into a learning organization.  Reporting to the Manager, Organizational Development, the Organizational Development & Learning Consultant (ODLC) works with all parts of the hospital to set, develop and manage organizational learning and effectiveness.  As part of the Organizational Development team, you will be focused on employee development, multi-modal learning development, and engagement initiatives with a focus on supporting leaders and employees as we collectively transform Yukon Hospitals through targeted, organization-wide initiatives. Working closely and collaboratively with team leaders, the People Services & Culture team, internal resources and external vendors, the incumbent will develop, implement and support structures, systems, processes and programs around learning, development, and organizational growth.

 

Knowledge and Skills required for this position are as follows:

 

  • Knowledge of the principles and practice of adult education including effective learning design, development and delivery;

  • Knowledge of foundations and principles of practice of organizational development and change management with a focus on organizational learning;

  • Ability to assess organizational development/learning needs and develop, implement and evaluate learning programs;

  • Superior knowledge of pedagogy across diverse modal contexts including online learning, classroom learning and on the job experiential learning;

  • Superior ability to design, develop and manage learning solutions using learning management systems (LMS) in a way that transcends simple distributed eLearning;

  • Demonstrated ability to design and facilitate active learning for adult learners;

  • Ability to influence and navigate across organizational boundaries and build strong partnerships that produce mutual results;

  • Ability to design and execute learning strategies and programs that create high-performing learning cultures, specifically integration of learning opportunities into existing workflows and performance expectations;

  • Excellent facilitation skills that engage an audience and have people excited for the next learning opportunity;

  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with employees at all levels of the organization;

  • Demonstrated ability to apply superior judgment, tact, and political expertise to communicate sensitive information to, and collaborate with, a variety of internal and external stakeholders;

  • Demonstrated ability to provide high-level advisory services and consultation to leadership, utilizing strong communication skills and the ability to persuade and influence;

  • Excellent knowledge of and proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g. Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word), eLearning authoring tools (Articulate, Captivate, Rise, etc), learning scheduling and management tools (Moodle);

  • Superior team building, problem solving, systems thinking, and conflict resolution skills that facilitate critical thinking and decision-making;

  • Proven ability in leveraging a variety of resources, knowledge, and information to get the job done through a high level of judgment, integrity and sense of urgency;

  • Demonstrated ability to show initiative, further a vision, tell stories in a compelling manner, be an independent thinker and creatively solve problems, implement project plans, and realize project completion and sustainment;

  • Ability to challenge the status quo in a balanced manner and drive continuous improvement;

  • Knowledge of health care disciplines and environments is an asset;

  • Ability to effectively navigate and build relationships within a Yukon cultural context.

The successful candidate will have a diploma or university degree in education, adult learning, instructional design or organizational development with a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ experience developing and successfully implementing learning programs, systems and initiatives and demonstrating experience with writing curriculum for all audiences and developing technical materials, as well as experience working in complex systems or previous healthcare settings. An equivalent combination of education/training and/or experience may be considered.
