Reporting to the Manager of Facilities and Security, the Security Officer is responsible for carrying out security operations which involves interacting and providing information and direction to the public, patients and staff. The Security Officer also responds to code calls and alarms in the buildings and patrols parking areas and follows procedures for parking violations. The Security Officer is responsible for the security and safety of patients, staff and the general public on the Whitehorse General Hospital Campus.

 

Knowledge and skills required for this position are as follows:

 

  • Knowledge of security and safety guidelines

  • Knowledge of security systems, equipment and communication devices

  • Strong communication skills (good English language skills)

  • Basic computer skills

  • Ability to diffuse and resolve conflicts

  • Ability to provide emergency response

  • Ability to write reports and compose a variety of correspondence

  • Professional and confident image

  • Customer services to the highest level

  • Ability to problem solve and provide effective solutions

  • Must be able to stand and walk up to 12 hours per day

     

    The successful candidate is required to have at least 1-year relevant security experience, must be bondable and must pass an enhanced criminal record check.
