Yukon Hospitals provides comprehensive orthopedic services, including non-invasive care, elective (planned) surgery, and emergency surgery supported by resident and visiting orthopedic surgeons. The orthopedic program aims to improve access to care, minimize travel out of Territory, and decrease wait times for consult and development/initiation of treatment plans for patients.

Surgeons diagnose and provide treatment options based on their assessment of the affected area with the support of X-rays, CT (computed tomography) scans or MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scans.

Each visiting orthopaedic surgeon has specific expertise, which focuses on certain conditions or bone structures. This means patients may be put on a wait list to see a particular surgeon. These visiting specialists also divide their time between the operating room and specialists clinic.
