Healthy providers working in healthy environments can provide better care to patients. Yukon hospitals have a number of activities, programs and supports in place that are designed to reach our goal of supported and engaged people delivering safe and excellent hospital care.
Occupational Health & Safety
We support, promote and strive to maintain a safe and healthy working environment – and one that encourages work/life balance – for all staff. Our hospital team at all three facilities work together to encourage a culture of prevention by developing and implementing policies and programs such as:
- Health and safety investigations and reports
- Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committees
- N95 respirator fit testing
- Flu clinics
- Immunizations
- Infection control
- Musculoskeletal injury prevention
- Falls prevention
- Blood/body fluid exposure prevention policies
- Disability management and return to work support
- Occupational hygiene monitoring
Working on Wellness
Encouraging work-life balance is incredibly important to our team. Our hospitals fully support and offer a formal workplace wellness program called Working on Wellness (WOW), which includes activities and initiatives that promote the physical, social and emotional well-being of our team members. Initiatives of the program are completely employee-driven and organized. Some examples include:
- Diabetes Awareness Month
- Fitness Boot Camp
- Fun Family Days
- Mental Health Week
- Mini-Massage Week
- Retirement Seminar
- Smoking Cessation Campaign
- Staff Christmas Party
