Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the Human Resources Business Partner will lead the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding for nurses, and other hard-to-recruit positions in Whitehorse General Hospital.  You will collaborate with our HR and Clinical Manager teams to develop strategies for finding quality talent (including marketing campaigns, social media, and traditional recruitment sources), screen candidates’ qualifications, arrange and conduct interviews, maintain a list of potential/future hires, and lead hiring decisions.  The Recruitment Specialist will be forward thinking, so as to identify gaps and opportunities, develop processes around recruiting, and streamline hiring to attract and onboard quality applicants.

Knowledge and skills required:

 

  • Advanced knowledge of recruitment strategies, best practices, and current trends;
  • Experience with building recruitment processes, assessing gaps and plans to address them;
  • Sound knowledge of industry practices, employment, and human rights laws/regulations as they pertain to recruitment;
  • Strong working knowledge of and ability to understand the organization’s operations and objectives;
  • Strong knowledge of and commitment to ethical decision-making and practices;
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written, presentation and negotiation);
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to build and leverage relationships;
  • Exceptionally organized with strong project management skills;
  • Strong understanding of clinical roles and ability to assess clinical applicants;
  • Experience recruiting within Unionized environments
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge to promote all aspects of diversity in the workplace;
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, etc.) and willingness to try and champion new technologies;
  • Ability to work independently and operate effectively at both a strategic and operational level;
  • Ability to balance day-to-day administrative tasks and ongoing employee support with parallel initiatives in a fast-paced environment;
  • Good judgement, diplomacy, discretion and sensitivity to confidentiality, privacy and human rights;
  • Cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity.

The successful candidate will have completed a degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business or related field, and have five (5) years of health care recruitment or related experience. Health care or critical care professional backgrounds are considered desirable. An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience may be considered.
